Finding Design Inspiration in New Orleans

Horse Drawn Carriage near Jackson Square

On a recent visit to New Orleans I was looking around for design inspiration and found it easily. The

uniqueness of the people, and the food, and the rebuilding of the city oozes inspiration. The people are resillient, they are fighters, with a deep love for their city, they don't give up easily. They are appreciative of visitors and thankful for their business. The music and the "party" attitude of the residents is contagious.

 Crawfish at "Frankie & Johnny's"
The food was a mix of down home southern, spicy cajun, and gulf seafood - what a mix! Gumbo, Etouffee, Jambalaya, Po Boys, Beignets, Red Beans w/Rice, the crawfish, the oysters, the weight gain - oh my! The food inspired me to create jewelry that would be a melting pot of beads and findings where there is something for everyone.

Bread Pudding at Montrel's

The architecture both old and new inspired me to make designs that offer a tiny bit of tradition, but a whole lot of something different, something extra, something outside of the box, something a bit mysterious! I will forever be inspired by "The Crescent City".

Colorful Cans

Someone gave me two of these cans a while ago.  I find the art work on it very interesting.  The colors are beautiful and the total look of the can reminds of graffiti art.  I made a bracelet out of one can and a set of earrings out the other one for a customer.  Very cute!

Add Sparkle to your jewelry!

This sparkling water can offers some really sorbet-like colors.  The bracelet and earrings I made from these cans are available in my Etsy shop.
